What is Biaxin?
• Biaxin belongs to a class of macrolide antibiotics. Biaxin fights bacteria in your body.
• Biaxin is used to treat many types of bacterial infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, tonsillitis, skin infections and bacterial ulcer.

WHEN NOT TAKING Biaxin?

MODE OF APPLICATION

Biaxin INTERACTION WITH OTHER DRUGS
• Biaxin may cause dangerous side effects when they interact with the following medications:
• antihistamines, such as terfenadine (Seldane) and astemizole (Hismanal);
• antiepileptic drugs such as carbamazepine (Tegretol), phenytoin (Dilantin) and valproic acid (Depakote, Depakene);
• medicines for asthma, such as theophylline (Theo-Dur, Theolair, Theochron, etc.);
• anticoagulants (blood thinners) such as warfarin (Coumadin);
• heart failure drugs against heart rate such as digoxin (Lanoxin) and disopyramide (Norpace);
• ergotamine (ergostat) or dihydroergotamine (D.H.E.);

• inhibitors of hydroxymethylglutaryl-coenzyme A-reductase inhibitors such as atorvastatin (Lipitor), simvastatin (Zocor), lovastatin (Mevacor), and others;
• benzodiazepines, such as diazepam (Valium), triazolam (Halcion), alprazolam (Xanax), and others;
• sildenafil (Viagra) or vardenafil (Levitra); or
• other antibiotics. Do not start treatment with other antibiotics, without consulting a doctor.
• Do not start receiving Biaxin without consulting with your doctor if you are taking any of the drugs listed above.
• Biaxin may interact with other drugs not listed in this medication guide. When taking other prescription drugs and medications, non-prescription, you should consult with your doctor.
